Qualifications when I started Boots: 6 GCSE’s and 11 years retail experience
My Career so far: I’d been in the grocery sector for 11 years before joining Boots and had made moves into senior management before I realised it wasn’t for me. I wasn’t really looking for a new job but I was really surprised and pleased by what Boots had to offer. I joined the company as a Team Manager and after a little more experience and learning the Boots systems, I progressed to a Group Operations Manager. Since then I’ve moved into an Area Operations Capability Trainer role, supporting the newly rebranded stores with their training to ensure that they can deliver the next generation of local community pharmacy services.
My typical day: Something I’ve loved with all of my roles with Boots is that there isn’t really a typical day. It’s just so varied, particularly with my role in new training. I never know how much people already know and that makes training the teams a real challenge. It’s been a really exciting time and making the new local Boots pharmacy stores a success is something I’m really proud to be involved in.
The best thing about Boots: Without a doubt it’s the people. Everyone is so motivated, happy and focused on what they are doing that it makes getting things done much easier and more rewarding. I love just being able to do what I do best every day.
