Qualifications when I started at Boots: Degree in History & Management

My Career so far: I’ve been working for Boots for two and a half years now. I started out as a Store Manager in a small local store which I really enjoyed. After just four months of doing that I was given the opportunity to move to a larger store on secondment and I jumped at it. The secondment only lasted 6 months but I learned a lot in the bigger store environment. After this was complete I took the role I have now, managing the Opticians Practice at the Leeds store.

My typical day: Best thing about my job is the variety. No two days are the same, and the fast-paced environment provides constant challenge – and lots of excitement.

The best thing about Boots: There are lots of good things to say about Boots but for me the most important thing is the feeling of being valued, both in my store by the team I work with and by the customers we serve. You really feel that your contribution makes a difference and what you do is recognised – and rewarded. There’s also lots of opportunity for development and progression.
